When God Smiles

This is my first time writing a blog. So here I go, diving into the unknown, the blogosphere. Come to think of it, I do that a lot, diving into the unknown.  My life has been one adventure after another. I like to call them my "mini lifetime!" Not all the adventures have been fun and or exciting, in fact some have been painful and terrorizing. But through all my "mini  life" expeditions one thing has always remained the same, God.  In the dark times, alone times, times of isolation, times of happiness and great celebration, God was with me. I have learned through the years God has a master plan for our lives. I am convinced through my life experiences, He is real, He is in control and there are no coincidences, only God's hand of providence. My latest "God Adventure" is Her House Maternity Home.
I began my journey with Her House in 2012. Her House began as a heart vision of two young women. I remember the first day I met with Ashton and Chelsea, a line from one of my favorite "girl movies" came to mind, "we are kindred spirits." And so the journey of Her House ministry began.  Through the years I witnessed God's hand as He has brought people to serve and to be served by the ministry. It is my desire and privilege to share with you the stories of Her House and the lives that were touched and changed through a relationship with Jesus. I am so excited to bring you with me, sit beside you while we sit in front row seats, watching God at work in and through the ministry.
So how did this all get started?  God brought together 3 women, placed on their hearts  to minister to women who were pregnant and homeless.  I am sure God was smiling and down on us as we began to build His ministry, or should I say,  as He was building the ministry.  We didn't know "step number 1"  how to write a business plan, or become a 501c3. We didn't have an attorney or bookkeeping skills, so what did we do? We prayed, prayed, and then prayed some more for God to help us.   In a couple of weeks God came to our rescue. He not only sent us an accountant, but two. One who was working in an attorney's office, (of course the attorney became the ministry's attorney) the other had experience in writing business plans.
So, God sent us exactly what we needed at the right time. Looking back  I can see in my mind's eye, Jesus smiling as He reminds me, With God nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37)
2013 Her House first Board of Directors, Chelsea Wagoner, Kacey Bowen, Cheryl Thornsbrough, Ashton Greer and Danielle Wright. Over the years Her House has been blessed with a Board of Directors that love the Lord and have a heart for service. You'll have an opportunity to meet them and learn how each have a heart for their community.
Until the next time, remember to smile, and that God makes the impossible, possible.

The Waiting In Wait

Have you ever watched the movie Fireproof ? If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend you check it out. It's a great movie.

The movie is about  marriage, relationships, and yes, waiting.  One of my favorites songs from the soundtrack is, "While I'm Waiting" the chorus goes like this, "I will move ahead bold and confident. Taking every step in obedience. While I'm waiting, I will serve You. While I'm waiting, I will worship. While I'm waiting, I will not faint, I'll be running the race even while I wait." Obedience, service, worship, running the race. The song, "While I'm Waiting" is a reflection of the thoughts of lead character played by Kirk Cameron as he is actively perusing his wife to save his marriage and also his personal relationship with Jesus. I don't want to tell you too much about the movie as I encourage you to watch it.

Have you ever stopped to think about how often we wait during the day? When you tr…
